Who Holds Up The Woodwork?
A vast gathering of wellwishers and dignitaries emerged from the well polished woodwork the other day to pay homage at Justice Lyn Stevens’ swearing-in at the Auckland High Court. Lead by Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias Their Honours cut a fine swathe in their ceremonial finery. Front seaters included distinguished ex-judges Sir Owen Woodhouse, Sir Ian Barker and Sir Muir Chilwell. Texts of praise from professional bodies were included from Kate Davenport, Jim Farmer QC and Gary Gotlieb. Queen’s Counsel packed the floor, including the well-known and celebrated Mr Graeme “Pinky” Little, a Senior Counsel from Sydney, formerly of Auckland. Justice Stevens is the son of Sir Lawrence Stevens, a prominent Auckland company director and defender of local manufacturing.
