On A Serious Note

Jock Anderson says: It is reported on this site that National Business Review owner Barry Colman intends to take legal action to remove www.caseload.co.nz from the Internet. A letter in which Mr Colman spells out his intentions, and my reply, appear in CaseLoad’s News section. His views and my views are spelt out for all to see. I have no wish to buy a legal fight with Mr Colman. To begin with I cannot afford it, although I am prepared to give him a very public run for his money. I think Mr Colman is wrong in believing that CaseLoad and CaseLoad’s audience belongs to him. Who knows, his lawyers may have found a fine legal point on which to take a case to court against www.caseload.co.nz but they have to win it and even if they do they will not silence CaseLoad. CaseLoaders will know that I am seeking fair compensation from Mr Colman after he made me redundant from NBR and that employment issue has yet to be resolved. I do not have any particular axe to grind against Mr Colman and, despite the unfairness of my removal from NBR, I do not bear him any ill-will. I simply want to get on and develop www.caseload.co.nz as New Zealand’s leading law-flavoured news site with a touch of humour thrown in without being heavied by people who should know better. And that is what I will do. Life is too short. Watch this space.
